Since the introduction of the Erasmus+ program, Türkiye has been actively participating in various actions, including the Jean Monnet Activities, to foster dialogue and cooperation in the field of European Union studies. The interest in these consortiums in Türkiye is not just about academic exchange, but it also reflects a deeper engagement with European integration and the broader implications for the region.
The Jean Monnet consortiums and Erasmus+ offer Türkiye a valuable opportunity to deepen its understanding of European integration, enhance its academic capacity in this field, and build networks with leading institutions across Europe. So, when it comes to Türkiye's interest in Jean Monnet consortiums under Erasmus+, it's not just about the academic pursuits; it's about embracing a dynamic and evolving relationship with the European Union and shaping the future of regional cooperation.
Over the years, the interest and participation in Jean Monnet Activities and Erasmus+ projects have shown fluctuations, influenced by evolving geopolitical dynamics, academic trends, and the broader context of EU-Turkey relations. The rates of interest, in this context, are not simply about monetary value; they reflect the ebb and flow of engagement and collaboration in the field of European Union studies.
A total of 72,677 project applications have been received since the start of the partnership.
- Grant allocations have been provided to more than 12000 projects.
- 778 million Euros of grant support has been provided.
- The acceptance rate of projects, including partners, was approximately 17.4%.
With the projects of the Turkish National Agency, the mobility of approximately 253000 people from Turkey to abroad was realized.
With the projects supported by all program countries, approximately 160000 people moved from abroad to Turkey.
Starting in 2003, the National Agency became a full member of the EU Education and Youth Programs on April 1, 2004 and started to run the community programs known as Socrates, Leonardo da Vinci and Youth, which lasted until 2006. The Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Programs for 2021-2027 are also carried out by the Directorate for EU Education and Youth Programs under the title of Turkish National Agency.
In the 2023 call for proposals, the budget allocated by the European Commission for projects in Turkey amounted to €119.9 million. The approved grant allocation amount is €95.75 million. Among all the main action plans, vocational education received 22 million Euros in grant support with 178 acceptances among 1207 project applications.
It is very important to develop our country's relations with the European Union in the right way. The role of the National Agency of the Republic of Turkey in this context is critical. Teachers and our students, who are our future, who participate in mobility abroad within the scope of the projects and host our partners from abroad, have the opportunity to observe and recognize European culture as well as the task of carrying out the projects.
