Erasmus+ Days 2025

Article

What is the Erasmus+ programme? Who was Erasmus? Who can apply and how does the whole process from application to participation in a project go? What are the benefits to the students? – These are the questions which are continually discussed with the students, especially on the Erasmus Days.

Erasmus+ Days are celebrated in the week between 13th and 17th of October 2025. All of the schools, universities and organizations around Europe, which are part of the Erasmus+ community, are undertaking activities in order to promote the Erasmus+ programme.

But, first, who was Erasmus?

Desiderius Erasmus, born in Rotterdam (Netherlands) was a Dutch humanist and the leading scholar of the northern Renaissance. He is renowned for being the first editor of the New Testament and for his significant contributions to Christian philology and classical literature. Erasmus used the philological methods to study the Greek New Testament and the Church Fathers, laying the groundwork for historical-critical scholarship. He acquired all of his knowledge throughout Europe, hence the today’s aim of the Erasmus+ programme.

Erasmus+ is the European Union's (EU) programme that supports education, training, youth and sport in Europe through priorities and activities set out in key EU strategies for education, such as the European Education Area, Digital Education Action Plan, the European Skills Agenda and, most recently, the Union of Skills.

Every year, the Erasmus+ community promotes the priorities and activities of the programme. Hence, our school, the private high school SABA from Skopje, Macedonia, has marked these days a series of activities:

  • SABA students who have participated in Erasmus+ projects have shared their experiences. Some of them have taken part of a mobility activity, others are taking part of an ongoing project such as the Jean Monnet project - Euro4VET. The students who are taking part of the Euro4VET project have presented it to the other students. They gave information about the ongoing national and international EU Skills Virtual Competition, which final stage is a visit to the European institutions in Brussels. Hence, they captivated the attention to the other students, who showed a huge interest in participating in other Erasmus+ projects;

  • The teachers have presented the opportunities to the students to go on a 2-week work placement abroad, in Europe, supported by the Erasmus+ programme;

  • The youth exchanges were also presented to the students.

Hence, all these activities have marked the Erasmus+ Days 2025 at SABA, in order to make the students think more internationally and to grasp the opportunity to participate in non-formal education, which will bring new friendships, getting to know new cultures, traditions and socialization.
