As representatives of Finnish vocational education, we see European Union citizenship as more than a legal status; it is an opportunity for young people to connect, grow, and contribute meaningfully to a shared future. The Erasmus+ Jean Monnet projects, which promote understanding of European integration, provide a platform to integrate these ideals into vocational education.

In Finland, vocational education plays a critical role in equipping students with practical skills that align with labor market needs. It is important to grow a sense of belonging and responsibility as citizens of Europe. Jean Monnet projects offer a chance to introduce European studies into vocational curricula, enabling students to understand the EU’s history, values, and mechanisms while preparing them for active participation in its future.

For example, through Erasmus+ exchanges and Jean Monnet modules, vocational students can experience European cooperation firsthand. Every student participating to an exchange program evaluates the outcomes of their learning – how have the results increased the knowledge and understanding the core values of European Union. Finnish vocational education students benefit from Erasmus+ training periods abroad in several ways. These opportunities allow them to gain practical experience in international work environments, enhancing their skills and employability. They also improve their language abilities and intercultural competencies, helping them adapt to diverse workplaces. Additionally, students develop a global network of professional contacts, which can be valuable for future career prospects. Overall, Erasmus+ training periods broaden students' perspectives, making them more competitive in the European and also global job market.

Furthermore, Finnish vocational education emphasizes inclusivity and innovation, which aligns with the EU’s core values. Projects that explore digital transformation, social inclusion, or green initiatives can use Jean Monnet frameworks to empower students as contributors to a cohesive Europe. These efforts deepen the concept of citizenship by showing how individual actions can have collective impacts.

In conclusion, Finnish vocational education, enriched by Erasmus+ Jean Monnet projects, is a pathway to strengthening European identity. It prepares young people to not only thrive in their professions but also actively shape the future of the European Union as informed, engaged citizens. Projects like Euro4VET is more than necessary.
